Brooke is a medical assistant working with Nurse Practitioner Angie Johnson, N.P., and joined Rockford Spine Center in May 2015. She went to Everest College and previously worked at DuPage Medical Group Pain Management Surgery Center for four years prior to joining Rockford Spine Center. In her spare time, she volunteers at her church; coaches her son’s soccer team and enjoys spending time with her family.
Christina is a Medical Assistant for Dr. Sweet. She was born and raised in the Rockford area and completed the Medical Assistant Associates Program through Rasmussen College. Prior to joining the Rockford Spine Center in 2013, Christina was previously employed at one of the local hospitals in the Ortho/Neuro department for over 12 years.
Christina decided to complete her degree because she wanted more patient interaction. Making a difference in someone's life while they are going through a difficult or frustrating time is what makes her career choice fulfilling.
Christina and her husband, Brett, enjoy participating in outdoor activities with the 4 children they have between them. She likes to ride motorcycles with friends and is a fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago White Sox, and Alabama (Roll Tide!).
Cindy is a Medical Assistant for Dr. Walker. She has 18 years of experience, and is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA). Cindy joined Rockford Spine Center in 2004. She is responsible for managing Dr. Walker’s clinic, coordinating patient care, educating and preparing patients for tests and procedures, assisting in conducting EMG/NCS, and acting as a liaison between the physician and patient.
Prior to joining Rockford Spine Center, Cindy worked at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, OH, Rockford Memorial Hospital, and OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, as an LPTA. In addition, she worked as an Athletic Trainer in high school and club athletics. Cindy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Rockford College. She also earned an Associate’s degree from Southern Illinois University to become a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Cindy says she chose this career because she has always had a strong interest in the sciences. “I enjoy assessing injuries, and helping patients overcome physical obstacles and injuries. I am a people person and enjoy the clinic setting, with the patient interaction it allows.”
Cindy is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. She is a founding member of Heartland Community Church, and an active volunteer in many aspects of the organization. In her spare time she enjoys athletics, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Kala joined Rockford Spine Center in May 2015 as a medical assistant and works with Dr. Sliva. She previously worked at Centegra Hospital’s McHenry and Woodstock campuses as a material technician and surgery materials coordinator. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, spending time with her husband and son and attending car shows.
Sarah is a Medical Assistant for Dr. Michael Roh, she joined Rockford Spine Center in June of 2013 with ten years of healthcare experience. Previously she worked at a cancer center where she assisted with physical therapy care and phlebotomy. Sarah earned an associate’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix.
Sarah chose her career so she could make an impact on peoples’ lives. “I like to help people in need. I find myself to be a very compassionate person and I like helping to make people well.”
In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her friends and family – especially her children ages 14, 11 and 9. She also has a passion for riding motorcycles.
Valerie is a valuable asset to our Medical Assistant team. She primarily works with Dr. Walker and is flexible enough to fill in wherever needed. In this role she is responsible for preparing patients for their appointment and assisting with clinical duties. She joined the Rockford Spine Center team in 2012 and has more than 7 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
Val has worked as a CNA in numerous locations over the years as she supported her husband's 20 year military career in the navy. In 2000, Val's family returned to Illinois where she furthered her passion in the medical field by earning her Associates Degree from Rockford Business College. She became a Certified Medical Assistant and continued to work in the health care field while attending school.
Val enjoys traveling, golf, biking and browsing through flea markets. She is married with two sons.
