Rockford Spine Center Promotes Arthritis Awareness Month
Posted on: May/15/2014

Arthritis affects 46 million adults and 300,000 children in the United States. The month of May is National Arthritis Month – a time dedicated to inform and educate patients to the treatments available for arthritis, or joint inflammation. Rockford Spine Center, a facility dedicated exclusively to spinal care, is taking this opportunity to share some tips regarding spinal arthritis.

While the likelihood of getting arthritis typically increases with age, it can impact people of all ages. Some people suffer from arthritis because their anatomy makes them more prone to the condition and others can get arthritis from severe accidents.

Dr. Marie Walker offers the following tips on when to seek help:

  • If you notice pain, tingling or weakness in the arms, hands, legs or feet
  • If the pain is consistent and worsens over time
  • If you’re unable to walk and/or conduct daily activities
  • If your overall quality of life is affected

Dr. Roh Featured as Spine Surgeon Leader to Know
Posted on: January/16/2014

Becker's Spine Review featured Dr. Michael Roh as a Spine Surgeon Leader to Know. Dr. Roh shared an exciting area of growth in his practice.

"One distinct area where my practice has grown is in the field of minimally invasive and outpatient spine surgery," said Dr. Roh. "Because many modern spine surgeries can be accomplished through tiny incisions with minimal pain, more and more patients are willing and able to go home on the day of surgery and recover in the comfort of their own home, which improves patient comfort and decreases healthcare costs. Furthermore, because these smaller surgeries can often be completed within 20 to 40 minutes, surgeons can run multiple operating rooms to improve efficiency and increase surgical volume without spending all day and night in the hospital."
